Description
The Abbey, nos. 25 and 27, is an early 19th-century building. The south front is stuccoed, while the west front is colourwashed brick, and both have a slate roof. No. 25's south front has a single-panel sash window with four panes and Gothic glazing on the first floor. The ground floor includes an angled bay window to the left and a double-glazed door with a rectangular fanlight, both with a Gothic glazing pattern. The west front of No. 25 features an attic window with Gothic glazing, a balcony, and a flat hood. The first floor has a narrow sash window to the left and a four-pane wide sash window to the right, also with Gothic glazing, and a louvred shutter. The ground floor has a casement window with Gothic glazing enclosed by a conservatory that extends northwards to a trellised porch. A six-panelled door is set within panelled reveals, above a large rectangular fanlight with Gothic glazing. No. 27 adjoins No. 25 and is similar, with a two-storey addition of one bay at the north end. It has two windows with Gothic glazing and a small window on the first floor, with a shutter on the northernmost window. The ground floor features a round-headed casement window with Gothic glazing within arcading at the north end, and a doorway similar to that in No. 25, with all door panels intact. A trellis veranda extends from the porch to No. 25 northwards across the front. A single-storey addition at the north end has a panelled door. Nos. 11 to 27 (odd) form a group.
