Description

The Abbey, nos. 21 and 23, is an early 19th century building projecting forward from nos. 17 and 19, with a lower frontage. Dated 1820, it is constructed of stucco with a slate roof, and has a moulded eaves cornice. The building is two storeys and has an attic. No. 21 has one dormer casement in the attic with a Gothic glazing pattern. It contains two sash windows on the first floor, each with four panes and Gothic glazing, and one sash window with Gothic glazing on the ground floor, alongside a door to the east. No. 23 has a modern dormer in the attic with a three-light front, also with Gothic glazing, and a sundial positioned below. On the first floor, it has two sash windows, each with four panes and Gothic glazing, and a date panel. The ground floor features two windows and a central door. The doors are similar to those of nos. 17 and 19, consisting of six-panelled doors with the upper four panels cut away and glazed, and a large rectangular fanlight with Gothic glazing above. A contemporary trellis porch and a flat, moulded, and dentilled hood are also present. Nos. 11 to 27 (odd) form a group.
