Description

The Hundred comprises a row of buildings dating to the early 19th century, situated on the south side. Numbers 71 to 79 (odd) form a continuous range. Number 71 is a two-storey building. The north side of this building is colourwashed brick, while the west side is stuccoed. It has one bay, with a flat-headed sash window on the upper floor within a segmental arch. The window has horns and shutters with painted advertisements. The ground floor features a plate-glass shop front with a central doorway flanked by fluted pilasters and a fascia.

Number 73 is two storeys and has an attic. It has a lower front than number 71 and a steeper, more pitched roof with one flat-roofed dormer containing a two-light casement window. The brick front is painted, and there is a painted brick eaves cornice. There are two sash windows on the upper floor, each four panes wide, within architrave frames. A six-pane shop window is located on the ground floor to the east, within a moulded architrave frame with a moulded cornice and a hood. To the west of the shop window is a door with four fielded panels, and a further door is set back within a reveal behind the main doorway. The doorway has a fluted architrave frame with angle paterae, a frieze, and a flat hood. A boarded door with a small glazed panel is at the extreme west end, set within a flat-headed segmental-arched doorway.

Numbers 75, 77 and 79 are two storeys, with a roofline similar in height to number 73. Each building has a single window bay, with sash windows within architraves. The ground floor doorways of numbers 77 and 79 are coupled together, each featuring a three-panel door with two moulded and fielded panels above. The doorways have fluted architrave frames with angle paterae, small plain friezes, and flat hoods.
