Description
Hatherden House is a small country house located in parkland, dating from the late 18th century, early 19th century, and mid 20th century. The building features painted brick and tile. The older part of the front, facing west, is symmetrical with two storeys and five windows, fitted with Victorian sashes. It has an arched doorway with a thin architrave, a leaded radiating fanlight, and a six-panelled door. A Doric verandah, added in 1938, consists of six columns and stands on the front terrace, replacing an earlier trellis. Flanking the centre are wings; the north side has one storey with four windows, while the south side has two storeys (with the upper floor added in 1938) and three windows, both in a similar style and featuring parapets. The rear elevation has two storeys with three and a third windows, cambered openings, and casements, along with a lead Sun Fire insurance sign dating from 1840.
