Description
Upton Manor House is a house from the early 18th century that was restored and extended in 1936. The front wall is original, while the rest of the building is a restoration and extension that closely matches the original style. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped tile roof. The symmetrical front (east) side has two storeys and five windows, with later additions on each side that include one window each. The brickwork is in Flemish bond, with flush blue panels between the openings, a band at the first floor, and red rubbed flat arches on the ground floor with carved soffit ornament. There are stone cills and a plinth, and the original eaves cornice has been replaced with a brick dentil eaves course from the early 19th century, along with wooden lintels above the upper openings. The house has old sash windows. The 20th-century doorcase features a moulded and arched pediment, lower cornice mouldings that step forward above consoles on each side, panelled pilasters, an architrave with a key, and a six-panelled door. The south elevation, added in 1936, mirrors the design of the front, with a pediment, deep ground floor windows, and a more ornate doorway.
