Description

Hyde Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse that has been extended in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with colourwashed brick and wattle and daub infill, with a weatherboarded extension and a thatched roof. The original plan was a 4-bay layout, with 2 further bays added in the 20th century to the left and a lean-to to the right. The farmhouse sits on a plinth. There is a 3-light casement window in the right-hand centre bay, and 2-light casements in the other bays. Original doorways were positioned to the left of the centre and in the right-hand bay. The outer bays have a wallplate with 3-light casement windows in eyebrow dormers, and a 2-light window above the centre bays. The 20th-century bays feature 3 or 4-light casement windows at varying levels and a 3-light casement in an eyebrow dormer to the end bay. The roof is hipped with a ridge piece and stacks located at each end of the ridge and between the left two 16th-century bays.
