Description

Pauncefoot is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with extensions from the 18th century and mid-19th century. The building features walls of painted brickwork in English bond, with some areas of red brickwork (including blue headers) and later walls of yellow brickwork in Flemish bond. There are also two fragments of exposed timber framework and cambered openings on the ground floor. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, while the rear has a double pile slate roof.

The north-west front is symmetrical and two storeys high, with two windows, and a lower, older section to the south-west. This section is obscured by a two-storeyed forward wing that has an outshot to the south-west. The main front includes sash windows, with three on the ground floor. The doorway features a wide early 19th-century porch with a slate-covered low-pitched gable, supported by plain columns and pilasters, and a wide plain architrave. The door is six-panelled, with two glazed panels at the top.

The north-east elevation is symmetrical and consists of two bays, all filled. The south-east elevation reveals the lower, older part with a piece of exposed framework, small casement windows, and a wooden porch. The east side extends forward and includes a half-octagonal two-storeyed bay with Victorian sash windows. Inside, the framework is exposed, along with a large chimney breast.
