Description
This row of cottages, numbered 16 to 19 on Leckford Lane, dates from the 16th and 17th centuries and was likely originally two separate buildings. The structure features a timber frame with wattle and daub infill, as well as colourwashed brick infill and rebuilding, topped with a thatched roof. It is 1½ storeys high and consists of eight bays, with four bays on the right containing 9-panel windows and four bays on the left featuring 12-panel windows. There are planked doors located in the second and fourth bays from the right and in the second bay from the left. Each bay has irregular 19th-century casement windows, which may have one, two, or three lights. The left two bays and two bays to the right of the center have irregular eyebrow dormers with 2-light casements. The right gable wall has been rebuilt. The roof is hipped, with a ridge piece and stacks located at the left end of the ridge, in the center, and on the slope of the roof in the right corner.
