Description
The Church of St Michael the Archangel, located on Church Lane East in Aldershot, has its origins in the 12th century and serves as the medieval church of the original village. The old chancel remains as the south choir aisle, while the nave to its west is a yellow brick structure built in the mid-19th century. The western tower, dating from around 1600, is composed of three stages, with the lower two made of ironstone rubble and the upper stage in brickwork, featuring a crenellated parapet and brick quoins. The north side of the church includes a Perpendicular style structure from 1910, constructed in flint with ashlar stone details, a random slate roof, coupled clerestory windows, and a western gable that showcases a pattern of square stones along with a high-level pair of traceried windows.
