Description

Keppel Lodge is a late 18th-century house, with alterations made in the early 19th century. The house is constructed of brick, with a stuccoed front, and has a tile roof. The symmetrical roadside facade has three storeys and three windows, featuring quoins, a plinth, and architraves. The ground floor architraves are moulded, the first floor are eared, and the second floor are plain. The windows are sash windows, with Victorian sashes on the ground floor. The west gable and wing contain the main entrance, accessed by steps and a stone-paved path. The doorcase has a modillion pediment, a broken cornice above pilasters, and flush-panelled reveals, leading to a six-panelled door with a top-glazed panel. A cast-iron gateway is set into the brick boundary wall, featuring short side rails, openwork piers and a single gate. The north side of the west elevation shows brickwork and some stone walls, with sash windows, a first-floor splayed bay window, a ground floor half-glazed door, and tile roofing with a brick dentil eaves.
