Description
The Old House is a building dating from the 16th century, with significant extensions added in the early 20th century, specifically in 1926. Originally, it was a two-storey timber-framed house, but it now features a red tile roof with some half hips and tile-hung gables. The upper part of the east gable retains its exposed timber frame, while the rest of the structure is primarily constructed of red brick, mostly in Flemish bond, with some areas in English bond. One section of the wall is completely tile-hung, and the openings are cambered. The windows are principal casements, and the doors are plain. A notable historical feature is the Tudor rectangular stack with a moulded top, which divides into two octagonal moulded bases for tall flues, although these flues are now missing.
