Saddling Stables To The West Of The Road At Tweseldown Racecourse

The Saddling Stables, located to the west of the road at Tweseldown Racecourse, were built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a gabled roof that is now covered in corrugated iron sheeting. The exterior is divided into nine bays, each separated by brick pilasters, and includes metal casement windows. The end elevations have circular apertures and cambered openings. Inside, the stables are arranged with stalls separated by wooden partitions topped with metal, and the roof features a queenpost design with an unusual interrupted tie beam and collar beam, along with original rafters. These stables remain unaltered and were designed to accommodate horses participating in race meetings, forming part of a group of racecourse buildings at Tweseldown Racecourse.
