Description

Down Farmhouse is a house dating to circa 1800. It is a square, two-story building with a symmetrical west front featuring three windows. The roof is tiled, hipped, and the walls are rendered with stone sills and a plinth. Sashes are set in reveals. A solid, roughcast porch with an oval fanlight above a sash window stands on the west front, replacing a prior doorway. The south elevation incorporates a two-story, angular bay on the west side. A tall staircase window is a feature of the north elevation. A single-story extension to the east contains substantial beams, possibly remnants of a farm building predating the enclosure of 1791.
