Description
Sergehill House is a house dating to approximately 1830-40, with later alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered brick, with a low-pitched slate roof. The original house was L-shaped. The front elevation has a 1:3:1 window arrangement, with the end bays projecting slightly. The windows are sashes, but the left bay has been altered to create three storeys and now features casements. A square, projecting porch has four fluted Greek Doric columns supporting a straight, dentilled entablature. A later 19th-century service wing is situated on the left end. The garden front displays eight sash windows, with the three central windows forming a two-storey canted bay. The two right-hand windows have been blocked. A continuous cast-iron sun verandah runs along the ground floor, with pilasters featuring a guilloche pattern. A wide, bracketed eaves soffit extends around the entire house. The interior includes a staircase hall, lit by a dome and featuring a mutule cornice. Ground floor rooms are characterised by simple fret and foliage cornices.
