Description
Millhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins in the 16th century, altered in the 17th century, and completely recased and extended in the late 18th century. It has a timber frame core and a red brick exterior, topped with plain tile hipped roofs. The building consists of three blocks and is two storeys high.
The front block, which is entirely from the late 18th century, features dentilled brick eaves, two segmental-headed sash windows, and a 19th-century canted bay window on the ground floor. There is a half-glazed late 18th-century door to the left. To the rear left, projecting by one window, is the centre range, which has two timber frame bays divided by a large chimney stack from the 16th to 17th century. This range has a casing similar to the front but includes flush sash and casement windows. The floor beams are chamfer-stopped and date from the 16th to 17th century, likely inserted into earlier construction.
At the rear, there is a gable-ended range that is framed in the 17th century on the inside but has casing from the 18th to 19th century. The rear elevation features two plank doors, with the right door having a simple square hood.
