Description
Whitehouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 16th century. It features a timber frame that is partly exposed and is encased in red brick from the 18th and 19th centuries. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has two storeys. There are three casement windows with glazing bars from the 19th to 20th centuries. The ground floor has two early 19th-century flush-panel doors, one of which has a cut bracket hood, indicating that the property was once divided. Between the doors, the ground floor windows are segmental-headed, and the brickwork has a chequered pattern. At the back, there are two extensions from the 19th to 20th centuries, along with an outshut from the 18th or 19th century. Inside, much of the framing is exposed, with the central bay featuring a close-studded rear wall that has original window openings on both floors; the upper window retains a diamond mullion. There is a large chimney stack located at the left center of the house. On the rear right, there is an early 18th-century staircase with heavy turned balusters, and the roof has clasped purlins.
