Description
Searches Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 15th to 16th century, with alterations made in the 16th to 17th centuries. It has a late 18th century red brick casing and a mid-19th century separate extension on the south side. The roof is covered with plain tiles and the building has two storeys. The earlier part features five first-floor glazing bar casements, while the ground floor has two recent bow windows and a central gabled porch, where the door has been changed to a window. There is a central early 17th century chimney stack with three red brick shafts. Inside, there are two cruck frames; the southern one has a stack attached, and the northern one is next to a two-storey bay from the 15th or 16th century. The beams in the bays on either side of the stack are chamfer-stopped. The front of the farmhouse has a sundial dated 1728. The southern extension is built of brown stock brick with red brick lintels and features two recessed sash windows, along with a two-panel door that has a simple hood.
