Description
The Hollies is a house dating from the 17th century, with later extensions from the 19th century. It features a timber-framed structure with wattle-and-daub and brick panels, along with a brick extension. The roof is thatched with straw and has gabled ends, while the north end has a lean-to thatched roof. The extension has a clay plain tile roof. A large battered external brick stack is located at the south end, which has set-offs and a rebuilt brick top, along with a circular brick oven at the base under a lean-to tile roof.
The building has a rectangular plan with three framed bays, the north bay being reduced in height. The south bay is heated by the large gable-end stack with the oven. At the rear of the central bay, there is a small single-storey 19th-century service wing that also has a gable-end stack.
The exterior is one storey and has an attic. The east front is asymmetrical with three windows, featuring small 19th-century two-light casements with leaded panes. There are two small gabled dormers at the eaves on the left, also with 19th-century casements with leaded panes. A plank door with cover moulds is located on the left, and there is a single-storey section on the right with a lean-to roof against the gable end. The rear has a small 19th-century three-light casement on the right with leaded panes and a single-storey brick wing to the left that includes a brick gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
