Description
The boundary wall from The Close to Wyeth House dates back to the 18th century. At the eastern end, there is a former entrance that has been filled in, which originally featured a carriageway opening flanked by two piers, each with square-headed doorways that have rubbed flat arches. The wall is constructed from red brick in Flemish bond and has a plinth. It extends westward and includes five regularly spaced buttresses that start at the plinth and rise to a tall pier. Beyond this point, the lower part of the wall incorporates flintwork up to a filled doorway, while the upper section is made entirely of brickwork with irregular buttresses leading to another tall pier. The western section of the wall, also in Flemish bond, features an arch-headed doorway set within a wall that is flanked by tall inner piers and shorter outer piers.
