Description

This early 17th-century barn has seven bays and features a projecting entrance in the middle of the south side, along with a cartway through the second bay from the west. The barn is constructed with thick red brick walls in English bond and has vertical slotted openings, some of which are filled in. The roof truss rests on the eaves and includes a massive cambered tie-beam, with a central vertical strut and two sloping struts leading to the collar beam. The two lines of purlins are jointed into the truss rafters, and there are arch braces in the central section. A bricknogged frame separates the main barn from the roadway. The barn has a red tile roof. Additionally, there is a 16th-century two-storey granary that is now half-demolished and in a ruinous state.
