Description
Bins Cottage is a house that dates from the 16th century, with extensions and alterations from the 18th and 20th centuries. The upper walls are mostly tile-hung, while the north side features brickwork in Flemish bond. The lower walls are made of ironstone with brick quoins, topped by a tiled roof. The building has a late medieval timber frame, with 18th-century extensions and some re-cladding, along with minor alterations from the 20th century. It has a steep roof with hips and a gablet, and is two storeys tall with irregular fenestration. The front (south-east) side has three windows across two storeys, with casements and two rectangular bays, as well as two plain doorways. The rear elevation shows exposed framing filled with brickwork, malmstone, and ironstone, with the north side in Flemish bond brickwork and the south side in ironstone with brick dressings. There is a small 20th-century brick porch.
