Description

This is a barn located 50 metres east of Lower Wield Farmhouse, dating from the early and late 18th century. It has an L-shaped timber frame, with the east-west branch from the early 18th century featuring 7 bays and aisles, while the north-south arm also has 7 bays with one aisle. The older section includes a tall queen post truss and brick walls, while the later section has straight struts and boarded walls. The western part of the early unit has a slate roof, the eastern part is tiled, and the later unit is topped with a corrugated-iron roof.
