Description
Lower Wield Farmhouse is a house from the mid-18th century, featuring early 19th-century details. It is constructed of brick and tile, with a regular front (south) elevation that has two storeys and four windows. The hipped roof has brick dentil eaves. The walls are built in Flemish bond with keyed flat arches on the ground floor and a high plinth. The first-floor windows are early 19th-century sashes set in reveals, while the ground floor features Victorian sashes and a French window on the east side. A mid-19th-century brick porch has a brick dentilled cornice and an arched opening with a fanlight, leading to a six-panelled door (two of which are top-lit) beneath another fanlight. The other sides of the house are in English bond, with some blue headers, cambered arches at the rear, and a few small additional windows from the early 20th century.
