Description
Northington Farmhouse is a mid-18th century to mid-19th century L-shaped house located in Overton. It features a symmetrical front facing south, with two storeys and an attic, and five windows. The steep-hipped tile roof is complemented by brick dentil eaves and hipped dormers that contain casement windows. The house has massive late 19th-century ribbed chimney stacks. The red brickwork is laid in Flemish bond, with a flush band of blue bricks at the first floor, cambered openings at the ground floor, and a plinth. The windows are sashes set in reveals. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door framed by a simple architrave, topped with a frieze and cornice. The east elevation mirrors this design with four windows and includes an entrance porch supported by pilasters and columns in the Tuscan Order, featuring circular abaci. In the angle of the building, there are blue headers in the Flemish bond, additional casements, and a doorway with a solid frame, topped by a canopy on brackets.
