Description
Church Lodge is an 18th-century L-shaped structure with one storey and an attic, built in 1848. It features a steep tiled roof with a half-hip on one side, while the gables on the south and east elevations overhang on extended purlins and eaves plates. A massive stack is located at the angle of the building, displaying crowsfoot stepping and three diagonal flues. The lodge has exposed "Gothic" timber framing set on a plinth, with arch bracing and curved brackets at the gable eaves, and the infill consists of horizontal and herring-bone brickwork. The windows are casements, including one bay that projects slightly. There is a porch with herring-bone brickwork on the cheeks and exposed timber-framing on the front, featuring decorative red brick infill above the cambered head-beam.
