Description

Nos. 40 and 42, Swan Street are a pair of dwellings, dating to the 17th century with early 19th-century alterations. They were originally listed as No. 42, Swan Street. The buildings are two storeys high with a tile roof and feature two large gables facing the street. The walls are rendered and the windows have cambered heads. The windows are primarily casements, though one is a modern bow window. A gabled doorway is set forward, with deep brick pilasters, an arched opening, a plain fanlight, and a six-panelled door with two upper glazed panels. Internally, sections of the original timber frame are exposed, demonstrating continuity with the adjacent building at No. 38.
