Description
2 and 4 Swan Street is a house and shop built in the late 19th century. The building has two storeys and features four upper windows. It has a tile roof adorned with decorative ridge tiles and perforated bargeboards. The walls are constructed of red brick with flush blue bands at the window cills and midpoints, along with coupled bands at the impost level. The openings have pointed arches with stone keys and impost blocks, and a blue brick extrados at the ground floor, while the spandrels are filled with scalloped tiles. The building has a plinth and Victorian sash windows set in reveals. The doorway includes a fanlight and a boarded door. The shop front is double-fronted and has a simple design. A notable feature is the north gable, which has multiple blue bands and overlooks the churchyard. At the rear, there is a parallel red brick range that lacks blue brick bands and has cambered brick arches for windows and doorways, with some replacement windows. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have been altered. This building is included for its group value.
