Description
Beaurepaire Mill is a water mill that has been converted into a house, built around the 1870s or 1880s for the Beaurepaire estate. The structure is made of red brick in English bond, featuring some burnt headers, and has a clay plain tile gabled roof with deep eaves and verges. The ornate pierced bargeboards include pendants.
The building is square in plan and has a central doorway on each floor on the south side, reflecting a Victorian Tudor Gothic style. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The east front is symmetrical with two bays and two gables, featuring 3-light casements on the ground floor and 2-light casements above, all with lozenge-shaped panes, cambered brick arches, and moulded brick hoodmoulds. The central doorway has a glazed door and a wooden gabled porch. The west elevation has similar but asymmetrical fenestration.
On the south side, there is a central doorway with a canopy and another doorway above, along with a large wooden hoist house in the roof that has pierced bargeboards and a window with lozenge-shaped panes. The north side has two windows that are similar to those on the other sides. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have no machinery.
