Description
Holtye House is an L-shaped house located in Hartfield, with the back or east wing dating from the 17th century. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring three windows and three dormers. The structure is made of red brick and has a modillion eaves cornice, topped by a mansarded tiled roof and a small wooden cupola with a weather-vane. The north-south wing, which is of higher elevation, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and also has two storeys with three windows. This wing is constructed of sandstone ashlar, with the centre window-bay projecting and featuring a pediment above. The roof is hipped and tiled, and the glazing bars are intact. There is a doorway with a flat hood supported by brackets, and each end of this wing has a bay of three windows.
