Description

The walls enclosing the churchyard of the Church of St Michael and All Angels date from the 18th to 19th centuries, likely incorporating some earlier work. They were altered and restored in the 20th century. The walls are constructed of brick and unknapped flint, with some sections renewed using cement. They form the north-east boundary wall to the Old Rectory and provide an enclosure for the churchyard, with an entrance through the lych-gate onto Meeching Rise. The lych-gate, built in 1952, is not considered of special interest. The embankment wall along Church Hill and Meeching Rise features brick coping, while the other walls vary in height and have some cement coping, with parts obscured by ivy at the time of the survey.
