Description
This is an early 19th century semi-detached pair of buildings situated at a right angle to East Parade, facing west onto a side lane. The exterior is painted brick, topped with a hipped roof. One half is covered in slate, while the other half features new interlocking tiles, with small paired eaves brackets. The buildings are three stories high and have two windows on each side, with sash windows and glazing bars. The lintels above the first-floor windows are stuccoed or painted stone, incorporating keyblocks.
On the East Parade frontage, the ground floor on the left has a sash window and a modern glazed door with a continuous cornice and a modern fascia board above. To the right is a small, late 19th century four-light shop window and a glazed door. A cement-rendered chimney stack is located in the centre of the elevation.
The rear elevation, facing West Street, also has three stories and two windows. First and second-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars and slight cambered arches. The ground floor features a continued cornice and fascia from the East Parade side, over a large early 19th century horizontally sliding window with glazing bars, a wide flush-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, a sash window with glazing bars, and another flush-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight. The buildings are included in the listing primarily for their group value, alongside numbers 14, 16 and 18.
