Description
No. 56 on High Street is a building with an 18th-century front that likely conceals a structure from the 16th century. The front is finished in stucco and features a parapet. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a large Victorian shop front on the ground floor that has been altered, including a fascia board above. On the first floor, there are two sash windows without glazing bars and a wide band above them. The roof is steep-pitched, gable-ended, and covered with tiles, featuring two hipped dormers. At the rear, there is a weatherboarded wing. Inside, the ground and first floors have stop-chamfered beams and joists, and the roof structure includes a queen post with a collar beam and wind braces. All the listed buildings along High Street up to and including No. 118 are considered to form a group.
