Description

The School House, now a library and house, was built in 1890. Constructed of grey brick with orange brick detailing, including header patterns and banding, it features quoins and window dressings. The building has a tiled gabled roof and a rectangular plan with two gables of varying sizes facing the road, and a further cross gable to the right. It is one and a half storeys in height, with a brick chimney on the ridge to the right of centre, featuring a moulded dentil head and a clay pot. Windows have rubbed brick semi-circular heads, and a moulded brick string runs at the upper cill level on the two right-hand gables. Carved bargeboards with long dropped finials and carved bosses adorn the gables. The windows are small-paned casements, and there's a planked entrance door within a recessed opening with a semi-circular brick head, leading to a closed porch incorporated into the projecting gable to the right of centre. An inscription above the door reads "F.W.A. 1890" across two panels, with a terracotta panel in between displaying a swan’s head flanked by two feathers.
