Description
Sussex Lodge is a house built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a steeply pitched, hipped slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with flanking chimneys. There is a painted brick string course at the first floor level and flat eaves. The façade includes three bays of sash windows with glazing bars and flat segmental heads, with the ground floor windows being taller. The entrance features a half-glazed central door within a solid-sided painted porch, which has a rectangular opening and a cornice capping.
Above the string course, there are two wooden cross windows with leaded lights, a clock set into the gable, and an arched bellcote above that has a pedimented top and houses three bells. Between the string course and the clock, there is a stone panel with an inscription and the date 1860. To the right of the main building, there is a single-storey classroom that has three bays of 2-light windows with stone mullions and dressings, also featuring leaded lights.
