Description

The Annexe at Wescott Infant School is a school technology block, now serving as a nursery, built around 1906. It features red brick in English bond with pebble-dash render and has a hipped plain tile roof with a corniced brick stack at the rear. The building has a stucco plinth and brick walling below window cill level, along with a cornice beneath the boxed eaves.

The windows are wooden, small-paned, and consist of three lights, with the ground floor windows being transomed and set below header-brick arches. The structure is two storeys tall and measures one bay by three bays across two sections. On the north-west elevation, the left bay has steps leading up to an entrance with a double door and a two-light window to the left. The right-hand section features a central bay that breaks forward beneath a curvilinear gable, which includes an oculus in a keyed brick surround with tile and brick coping. An external metal stair with iron columns on the left side leads to a first-floor entrance.

At the rear, the left-hand section has two windows on each floor flanking a blind chimney bay, while the right bay has a door on the right and a two-light window on the first floor. Inside, the annexe includes parquet flooring, part-glazed doors, panelled cupboards, and a wall-mounted blackboard. It was designed to function as part of the early 20th-century school and was constructed using similar materials and style.
