Description
The Overhangs is a row of cottages, now used as offices, dating from the early 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-20th century. The building is timber framed with painted render infill and has a brick underbuilding, topped by an old tile gabled roof. It has a rectangular plan that likely consists of five framed bays, with a jettied section on the north and 20th-century extensions at the rear. The structure is two storeys high and features two ridge chimneys, along with a tall flanking chimney on the left side. The front has five bays, with some of the timber frame visible. The first floor has 20th-century casements with glazing bars, including an earlier sliding casement on the left. The ground floor also has similar windows, with part-glazed entrance doors: one pair located on the left between the first and second bays, another pair between the third and fourth bays, and one on the extreme right. Inside, some framing and jowled posts are exposed.
