Description

Rickhams is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions in the late 18th century and alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of painted brick, with a timber frame and brick infill, and has an old tile hipped roof. The house has a rectangular plan, originally with three cells, a two-bay framed section at the rear, and a single-cell extension to the right, projecting forward to the road. It is two storeys high and features chimneys with offset heads on each side of the main part, and a tall chimney on the rear extension. The east-facing front has sash windows with glazing bars. The left-hand section is symmetrical, with three bays, and its windows are set within architrave frames flush with the wall. The ground floor of this section has a large 20th-century enclosed entrance porch with a flat roof, a three-light casement window, and a 20th-century entrance door. The right-hand section is also symmetrical, with two bays, and its windows are in reveals. A garage door is located in the right-hand bay.
