Description
The Church of St Andrew is a parish church located on Windsor Road in Wraysbury. It dates from the 13th and 15th centuries and was restored in 1862 by architect John Raphael Brandon. The church features a three-bay nave with 13th-century arches and pillars that have keel edge rolls on the angles. The exterior is constructed of rubble stone and has a tiled roof, with a broach spire added during the 1862 restoration. A south porch was added in 1935. Inside, there is a 13th-century arch in the chancel, a 13th-century lancet window and a 15th-century doorway in the north wall, and a 13th-century piscina along with fragments of late medieval wall painting on the south wall. The 15th-century Lady Chapel is also part of the church. The font base is from the 13th century and features an inverted pillar with an older rim. The pulpit, dating from the late 17th century, is bolection moulded and was originally three-tiered. In the chancel, there is a 17th-century ledger stone commemorating Edward Gould, a small brass plaque for John Stonor, and a large early 16th-century brass depicting a knight in Tudor armour.
