Description

The Old Vicarage is an early 15th century timber-framed house that has been modernised. The original structure features a two-bay hall and a two-bay crosswing. It is two storeys high with steeply pitched old tile roofs, hipped on the crosswing, which has a 17th century chimney on the ridge. The crosswing has modern leaded casements on the first floor and double-hung sash windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, two of which are located in the east elevation and have flush timber surrounds. There is a modern single-storey extension to the south that includes applied timbering and a large modern leaded five-light casement. The hall has a later pent extension on the north side, with a ridge chimney, gable, and a modern hipped porch over the entry on the north, along with modern casement windows. A two-storey modern extension on the west side forms a second crosswing. All extensions are rendered or roughcast and colourwashed. The interior is of interest, showcasing many fine timbers, including two large arch braces in the middle bay of the crosswing on the first floor.
