Description

Probably a former hall house, now a small house, Vicarage Cottage dates to the early 16th century, with alterations in the 17th century and a late 20th-century extension. The building is timber-framed, although the frame is now mostly hidden beneath painted render and roughcast. It has an old tile gabled roof and a rectangular plan consisting of two framed bays with two-framed bay cross-wings to the north-east, and an extension to the south-west. There are two storeys. A 17th-century chimney with clay pots rises from the ridge, located to the right of centre. Early 20th-century leaded casement windows are present throughout. The front facing the road (southeast) has a gabled bay on the right with three-light windows and a catslide roof over the adjacent extension. To the left of this gable is a small, early 20th-century oriel window on the first floor, featuring diamond leading, and a three-light casement window below. A gabled entrance porch is centrally positioned, with a plain door featuring a small glazed panel.
