Description

SHOTTESBROOKE SHOTTESBROOKE PARK SU 87 NW 8/34 Group of 3 gravestones approx 2 metres east of south transept of Church of St. John the Baptist

3 headstones. Mid and late C18. The first headstone, nearest the church has a moulded, gabled top with carved foliage under and is a memorial to George Trayhorn, Steward to lord of the Manor, d. 1746. The second headstone has a semi-circular top with scrolled ends enclosing rosettes; under a carving with a seraphim in garlands and leaf ornament; and is a memorial to John Hand Marsh, d. 1773. The third headstone has a plain shaped top; and under, a carved skull with crossbones; Memorial to John Lee d. 1742.
