Description
Shottesbrooke is a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The cottages are constructed of brick and feature an old tile hipped roof. They have a rectangular plan with an outshut at the rear and were originally designed as two cells, now expanded with side and rear extensions. The buildings are two storeys high and have two end chimneys topped with clay pots. The eaves are adorned with projecting brick dentils.
On the northeast front, which was formerly the entrance front, there are four bays. The second and third bays have windows where entrance doors used to be, and the corresponding bays above are blocked with casement windows painted on rendered panels. The windows in the fourth bay on both floors feature large-pane leaded lights. Lean-to extensions are present at the sides, slightly recessed, with casement windows on the returns. The entrance doors have been relocated to the rear.
