Description

The stocks and whipping post, located on Church Hill in White Waltham, date back to the late 15th century but were rebuilt in 1979. The structure features wooden stocks designed for two offenders, equipped with metal arm holders on the whipping post, which also has a padlock and chain. It is topped with a 20th-century wide gable plank roof supported by two oak posts that are braced to the wall plate. The site is enclosed by railings with spiked bars and includes a small padlocked gate in the north corner. This is a complete example of its kind, with the stocks having been restored in 1979 due to vandalism.
