Description
The fountain in the garden of the Old Cottage, located approximately 30 metres south of the Church of St John the Baptist, is a disused garden fountain dating from the early 18th century. It is made of lead and features leaf and foliage ornamentation. The fountain has a hexagonal shape set on a square stone paved base. At its center is a circular pillar adorned with scrollwork at the base. There is a water bowl positioned halfway up the pillar, which is chamfered above the bowl and features four dragons cast in lead. Above the dragons is a fretted basket, and the pillar is topped with a ball and a rustic cross. The fountain was relocated from another site in 1904 during a redesign of the garden by Dunne and Watson.
