Description
The Church of St Peter, built in 1897 by E J Shrewsbury, is a notable structure located on the north side of St Peters Road. It features a simple plan with a nave that has a polygonal east end and transepts, along with aisles covered by pent roofs and a pent porch at the west end. The church is constructed from red plain tiles and red brick, accented with stone bands and grey brick panels. A square tower with crenellations is situated on the south transept. The clerestoreys are adorned with lancet windows arranged in groups of 2:3:2:3, while the aisles have four double cusped windows framed in brick and stone. Inside, the church has a simple design, with two-centred arches forming the nave arcading and a straightforward timber rood screen. There is a modern extension at the east end.
