K1 Telephone Kiosk Beside Entrance To Boulters Inn, Ray Mill Island

The K1 telephone kiosk beside the entrance to Boulters Inn on Ray Mill Island was designed in 1921. It is made of concrete and painted green. The kiosk features a plinth and has two sunk panels at the base on all sides. The sides and door include windows with glazing bars and bevelled edges on the glass, with the door having six panes and the sides featuring undivided central panes. There are vent holes at the base and top of the rear. The structure has a cyma-moulded cornice and a swept pyramidal roof, which is topped with beige plaques that have a raised brown border and lettering that reads "TELEPHONE." This is surmounted by four scrolled brackets supporting a central spear-head finial. The telephone number listed is Maidenhead 1291. The kiosk appears to serve as an extension line from the hotel’s switchboard for guest use.
