Description
The K1 telephone kiosk, built in 1921, is a grade II listed structure located at the East Anglian Transport Museum. This kiosk is made of prefabricated un-reinforced concrete and features sides with eight-pane windows set in a metal frame. The front of the kiosk has a glazed wooden door, also with eight panes. It is topped with a moulded cornice and a pyramidal concrete roof that includes a finial and enamelled signs inscribed with "Telephone," along with wrought iron scrolling and a finial on top.
Inside, the kiosk contains a decimalised A/B coinbox (which is not working), a 292 telephone with an incorrect baseplate, and other fittings that do not appear to be original. Originally, this kiosk was located outside a sub post office on Church Road in Potters Bar, Barnet, London, where it remained until the mid-1970s. It was restored and re-erected around 1984 as an exhibit at the East Anglian Transport Museum.
