Description
The K6 telephone kiosk in Langcliffe was designed in 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. This standardised kiosk is made of cast iron and is painted red overall. It features long horizontal glazing in the doors and sides, with crowns on the top panels that are applied rather than perforated. There are rectangular white display signs reading "TELEPHONE" beneath the shallow curved roof. The interior has been modernised with updated equipment.
The kiosk is located on the eastern side of Main Street, at the southern approach to Langcliffe Village Green. Nearby, there are two Grade II-listed buildings: Cockhouse, the former village post office, approximately 12 meters to the north-east, and Langcliffe Hall, along with its stables and gate piers, approximately 56 meters to the south-west. The telephone kiosk has a strong visual connection with these two listed buildings.
