Description
Cock House and Grisedale is a former workhouse and overseers house, now divided into two residences, dating from the early 19th century. The building is rendered with stone dressings and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has two bays. The central entrance to Cock House features a plain surround and 1970s doors. Each floor has two windows with plain surrounds, projecting sills, and 16-pane sash windows. The roof is hipped and has eaves modillions.
The left-hand return is constructed of slobbered rubble and also stands three storeys tall with three bays. The entrance to the former overseers house, now Grisedale, is located to the left of centre and has a plain surround with a 1970s plank door. This section includes three ground floor windows, two first floor windows, and three second floor windows, all with plain surrounds, projecting sills, and 16-pane sashes. The eaves also feature modillions, and there is a ridge stack on the left-hand gable end and another ridge stack to the right of the entrance.
