Description

The walls of the old parish church of St Nicholas date from the 17th century and are constructed of red brick. They feature an arcade of semicircular arches and brick plinths, along with wrought iron gates. The old parish church was in ruins by 1853. A new church made of red brick was built in 1828, but it was burned down and replaced by the current parish church, designed by Fellowes Prynne, on a different site in 1912.
